Today we took one last ride. We went everywhere we have always gone together and a few new places too. We went to the river where I first learned to swim. We took a never ending ride as slow as we could go so that I could stand in the window and not slip around. We went to get ice cream in town and took it to a park I have never been before. When we got home I ate some dinner and my dad built me a beautiful box to rest in after we see the doctor. We made a camp in the living room so I could spend the night with my little brother and my dad. We stayed up all night! Talking and looking at pictures from the past and present. Remembering just how much fun we have had over the last 16 years of my existence. In the morning we woke up just looking one another in the eyes and both agreeing it was too early to get up. So we stayed in bed talking and remembering and my dad never stopped stroking that spot on my cheek I love so much. I knew we would be going to my doctor soon in which my dad knows I don't like. So he requested we have our appointment outside where we could be in the grass instead of the scary doctors office. I see my dad get tears in his eyes and I don't know why and I had to tell him everything is ok by kissing his tears away. I know this visit to the doctors is a special one. I am very old now, I am always tired, I can hardly eat my dinner (even when it's steak!), and things I used to be able to control I no longer can. My dad told me long ago that he would always keep me safe, never let me suffer, and would be by my side until the very end. So I think his tears may have something to do with that, though I wish he wasn't feeling pain, as our time isn't over completely. Forever I will still be with him in spirit and someday we will meet again in another life to do all we enjoyed over again.
If only our pets could say things to us. It would make things a little easier.
