A day at the zoo - gorillas. As smelly as it is in the ape house, it is fun and this day, I really enjoyed watching this momma gorilla take care of her curious and sweet baby!

A day at the zoo - lion. One of my favorite places to visit in DC has always been the National Zoo, and as an adult that’s still true. This was after he woke from a nap, roared for awhile then flopped down as though he were posing.

While visiting holy sites in Israel a friend and I started looking for and photographing crosses, which we then found everywhere. This one, I believe, must have been hung on or in a church at one time, but was now discarded against a fence at the far side of the yard, but I saw beauty in it as the vines grew up around it and it was leaning against the tree.

Birds of a feather. The texture and color of this duck's feathers looked really cool in the summer sun.

We were at a street festival in Winchester, VA, when the kids decided to get their faces painted.

As spring bloomed in our yard, my son would come in from walking the dog with an occasional gift of flowers from our yard. This daffodil was one of the first. It may seem like a simple little flower in a glass but means the world to me!

The beauty of music: my amazing pre-teen daughter was practicing her cello for an audition today and the beauty of her hand with the flowery details of henna tattoo set against the slick, smooth lines of the bow and body of the cello struck me as needing to be photographed and shared. Enjoy!
